![]() The water is pumped into this reservoir from the river intake structure, located one mile north of the facility on the banks of Big Haynes Creek. It has an on-site raw water reservoir that will hold 22.5 million gallons of water. This facility has many special features that are unsurpassed by many water treatment facilities in the state. It has a permitted capacity of 22.1 million gallons per day (MGD). The Rockdale County water treatment plant is a state-of-the-art facility and went on line in the summer of 2002. Thanks to the approval of a Special Purpose Local-Option Sales Tax (SPLOST), Rockdale County was able to construct a 22-million gallon per day water treatment plant, ending the community’s dependency on other jurisdictions for potable water. Rockdale County Administration & Services Building The Director reports to the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners. Water Resources Administration oversees the day-to-day operations of the water and wastewater systems for Rockdale County. The division administers regulatory compliance, mapping of the water and sewer systems and locations, development reviews for all developer plans which contain water and sewer improvements to ensure compliance with Rockdale County’s water and sewer standards and specifications (five working-day review period), and inspection of improvements and connections. Capital improvement projects include extensions of the water distribution and sewer collection systems, upgrades to existing treatment plants, construction of new plants, and replacement of existing infrastructure. This Division also plans capital improvements to the water and wastewater systems. Water Resources Engineering oversees planning, design and construction of all water and wastewater system improvements.
